Task 5: Issue 0
Starter Task: Finding cover theme and title
At the start of task 5, we were told to do a mind map of what makes up you. From that, we chose the theme of the cover for Issue 0. I decided to do about my large earring collection.

Next, we did word collages to find our title for the cover. I got unlucky as I picked works from a newspaper, and I think that if I got words from a fashion magazine, I would've had more options in the title that relate to earrings.
From all the work collages I made, the one title that made the most sense to go with was "Look again, Diamonds, Nice one!". Even though it was the only title related to the jewellery, I liked it. I find that it's quirky, unique and draws in the reader to say to look again.
I arranged some of the earing collection on a white background. I put the image on PowerPoint and found pictures of the words for the title on google images. I decided to do this with the text as I wanted the same collage to feel on the cover. I printed the pages on A4 black and white, ready to use in the printing session.
I used tracing paper to trace the text. I hand wrote the text to make it neater as I wanted it to come out as one solid colour. For the cover, I wanted to experiment with adding 3 layers of print, so I used another sheet of tracing paper to create simple outlines of the printed image of my earrings. The cover will be a layer of the printed earring, a hand outline of earings and the text.

I chose the colours orange, red and blue as they contrast. I initially chose a dark shade of blue for the earrings outline but changed to orange as the dark blue got lost and looked messy when viewed afar.

One thing that I would do to improve this cover by erasing areas of the earrings photograph where the title would overlap on photoshop to create a neater and more readable cover title.

Here are the layers that went through the risograph + final outcome:
Risograph Statement:
Look again, Diamonds, Nice one!
With my extensive collection of earrings, it was hard not to show all of them. Each pair with their unique story of who or where. The collection that formed during my early childhood years was inherited with the same love for jewellery as my mother.
