Project4Change Tote Bag Sessions
I have been part of Project4Change as a young person since 2019 then became a volunteer. After gaining my Level 2 award in youth work my volunteer position became a part-time community artist job.
I was commissioned to work with a group of young people to create tote bags to sell as a fundraiser to use for their school prom. At the time COVID-19 was still a threat and as such the young people were unsure if their prom would go on, however, they still wanted to go ahead planning their entrepreneurial project. The young people began making a mood board of general ideas their designs would stemming from my Instagram page at the designs at previous tote bag designs that I have sold. The young people planned to make 36 out of the 45 designs they made over five weeks. These five weeks have recently been extended to make sure the bags have been completed.

These are some of the bags and designs that they have completed.
The planning of responsibilities, tasks and costs was led by the young people. An artist I worked alongside in the sessions, to support and teach techniques that I have learned from my experience in painting tote bags.
Some young people have decided to finish tote bags outside of my sessions by taking them home. Altogether I have found out that they have excited their target of 36 by making 37 bags. From my tote bag sessions, young people have learned to decorate their tote bags independently, and they have discovered a new skill that they will hopefully use alone in their art projects. I will not be taking part in the selling process of the tote bags; I will keep updated by following the Project4Change Instagram.
